Kindergarten students at the end of the school year are readers! You have worked so hard to shape them into fluent readers, and with that comes the need for more challenging reading materials. I created this set of 25 reading passages to use at the end of kindergarten. Each passage focuses on one specific sight word. Students read the passages, and fill in the blanks with the given sight word. Simple! You can complete these passages during your guided reading sessions, or display them using your projector! You can also write them on chart paper and let your kiddos help you fill in the missing sight words during your shared writing time. You choose! If you would like to use them in your classroom, check them out here!

Do you use poetry in your classroom? I create all types of poems to use in an early childhood classroom, including this set of beginning blends poems. Teachers usually teach beginning blends at the end of kindergarten, or the beginning of first grade, so these poems are geared for that age! You can print this set of poems off, and create a poetry notebook for your students. You can then go through the poems one by one as you are introducing a beginning blend. Students can highlight the blends as you go, or you can choose specific sight words for your kiddos to focus on. This set has 20 poems, so you have plenty of blends to choose from. I also recommend writing the poems on chart paper or showing them using your projector.

Teaching the alphabet is one of the foundational skills that most kindergarten teachers focus on during the first few weeks of kindergarten. This can be done in so many ways including through songs, poems, charts, chants, hands-on manipulatives, learning centers, and more! I just completed this set of alphabet books to add to my alphabet introduction activities. This set of 26 books includes one book for each letter of the alphabet. The predictable books include sight word sentences with each letter of the alphabet. Each page of the book is predictable and follow the same pattern, which make it perfect for kindergarten students.
My kiddos will highlight words that begin with each letter of the alphabet, and then trace each alphabet letter to practice letter formation. We will then place the books in our book boxes so that they can be read over and over again. If you would like to use these in your classroom, check them out here!
