January Math for Kindergarten

A few years ago, my elementary school adopted a new math series (again!). After using the math series for a few weeks, I decided that I wasn't a fan. It wasn't very kindergarten friendly, with pages to rip out and not to mention it had a very boring and bland layout. Although I was still required to use the math series, I decided that I needed something to supplement the instruction to give my kinders a little more excitement. They needed a little more hands on, and a little more simple and kindergarten friendly. With this in mind, I created a series of math notebooks for each month of Kindergarten. These math notebooks make the perfect supplement, and they provide the kiddos with hands-on activities which they love! Each math notebook has one activity for each day of the month. These activities could be used for morning work, guided math, or even math homework for the littles. The activities only take a few minutes, which is perfect for kinders with a small attention span. Here are a few of the activities in my January Math Notebook. If you like this set, you may also like all of the other months. I have them in a bundle! The activities get a little more difficult as the school year continues, in order to keep the kiddos engaged.

This January Math Notebook for Kindergarten includes addition, subtraction, tally marks, writing numbers, place value, measurement, and more!

Winter Sight Word Poems for Shared Reading

Do you use poetry in your classroom? I created this set of winter SIGHT WORD POEMS to use in Kindergarten. I have included winter, Christmas, Presidents Day, Groundhog Day, and Valentine's Day in this set. These poems are perfect for shared reading in kindergarten because they are simple and predictable! These poems are full of sight words, which makes them easy to use during a sight word of the week routine. I will bind them together to create a poetry notebook. You can write these poems on chart paper or display them on a smartboard as you teach them.  After completion, will keep them in our book boxes and pull them out as a familiar read later in the year. If you would like to use them in your classroom, they are available as a digital download in my TPT shop. Grab them here!

CVC Christmas Trees

Are you looking for a quick Christmas Craft that still keeps the kiddos learning? I created this set of CVC Christmas Trees for kinders to create during the holiday season. They are very simple to prep, which is perfect for this busy time of year. You can print the trees on colored paper, or you can print on black and white and let the kiddos color it. Students read the word family words and order them on the paper to create a tree. They add the star to the top, decorations, and they are done. I used a hole punch and construction paper to create the decorations. These would make a cute holiday display. The students could each create a different word family tree, and they could be displayed so that the students have a chance to read them all. The template is available in my TPT shop here. Happy Holidays!
